Phil Simmons, the head coach of Bangladesh, is set to depart from the ongoing tour of Sri Lanka to seek medical attention in London. This decision follows a scheduled appointment with physicians in the UK, dismissing earlier rumors of a performance review by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president, Aminul Islam.
The former West Indian opener is anticipated to rejoin the team in Sri Lanka on July 7, ensuring his presence for the third One Day International (ODI) of the series. Following the ODI series, Bangladesh is scheduled to compete in three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
The Bangladesh team's performance has been inconsistent throughout the tour. After a strong showing in the first Test, which resulted in a draw, they lost momentum and conceded the two-match series following a defeat in the second Test. Their struggles continued into the ODI series, where they experienced a significant collapse, leading to a loss in the opening game of the three-match series.
