Actor Vijay, now a politician, has been officially announced as the Chief Ministerial candidate for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This decision was made official through a special resolution during the party's State Executive Committee meeting at the TVK headquarters in Chennai.
According to NDTV, Vijay presided over the meeting, during which plans were initiated for a large-scale state conference scheduled for next month.
Simultaneously, Vijay is preparing for the release of his highly anticipated film, 'Jana Nayagan,' directed by H. Vinoth. The recently released teaser for 'Jana Nayagan' has garnered positive attention from the audience.
Priyamani, a prominent actress in 'Jana Nayagan,' has expressed her admiration for Vijay. "I’m super excited to share screen space with Vijay… I hope this isn’t his last film,” she stated in an interview reported by Wionews.
During a recent appearance at the Kerala Carnival in Ireland, Mamitha Baiju, another key actress in 'Jana Nayagan,' revealed details of a conversation with Vijay about his future in cinema. "I just asked him whether 'Jana Nayagan' would truly be his last outing. Vijay Sir responded by saying that it all depends on how elections go. He also said that we’ll see what happens.”
'Jana Nayagan' boasts a star-studded cast, including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Mamitha Baiju. Meanwhile, Vijay's previous film, the action-packed 'GOAT,' did not resonate with audiences as expected.
