The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, has confirmed the decision. According to Patel, the association is still working on finding the most suitable time frame for the tournament and finalizing details such as the number of participating teams.
These domestic T20 leagues across India are increasingly becoming important scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra provide invaluable platforms. They allow local talent to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
