Sammy Sanctioned for Umpire Criticism After Test Match
Daren Sammy, the West Indies cricket coach, has been penalized with a fine of 15% of his match fee. This action stems from his public disapproval of TV umpire Adrian Holdstock's decisions during the first Test against Australia in Barbados. Sammy voiced his concerns regarding the consistency of the Decision Review System (DRS) rulings on the second day of the match.

Sammy, 41, who was overseeing his first Test as the West Indies' coach, faced repercussions following his post-match press conference at Kensington Oval. During the conference, he questioned several controversial DRS decisions.
The crux of the issue revolved around two caught-behind decisions. One involved Australia's Travis Head, who was initially ruled not out, and the other concerned West Indies' Shai Hope, who was given out. Sammy also drew attention to contrasting lbw referrals involving Roston Chase and Australia's Cameron Green.
Sammy emphasized the need for uniformity in decision-making. "When there's doubt in something, just be consistent across the board," Sammy stated. "From the images that we're seeing, the decisions are not fair enough for both teams... I just want fairness."
Sammy admitted to violating the ICC's code of conduct by making inappropriate comments about a match official.
In a separate incident, West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales also received a 15% fine from his match fee for his send-off gesture towards Australian captain Pat Cummins on the first day of the match.
These disciplinary actions occurred during a match where Australia clinched a 159-run victory, establishing a 1-0 lead in the series.
The teams are now set to travel to Grenada for the second Test, scheduled to commence on Thursday.
